“Break Time”
They are words that people who work in a factory, often times look forward too. I am getting ready for some holidays myself, and so is my wife. Sarah has been working hard like every other teacher who serves in our school system, and can’t wait for the break to finally arrive. I am attempting to finish up some loose ends and get things in place both for while I am away, and for when I return. Holidays seem so close and the closer they get the further they seem. I was thinking about our life as Christians, are we much like the factory worker, waiting for that announcement, “break time”? I wonder sometimes if as christians we have been on break a little to long. Instead of the words announcing break time maybe we need to hear the other reminder, “back to work time”. What is the work that you and I are called to do? Paul talks about our reasonable sacrifice, what is reasonable anyway? As much as I am looking forward to holidays and getting away with Sarah to rest and spend time together, I can’t help but think, there is a work to do! Each one of us are called to this work, and I know the break from this special work will begin when I hear the words “well done good and faithful servant”. Are you working to hear those words?
Again, its just a thought
